Sarah Drew’s passion for acting began at a young age with school plays and local community theater. Graduating from the University of Virginia in 2002 with a Bachelor’s degree in Drama, it wasn’t long before she made her Broadway debut in 2003’s Vincent in Brixton. Television roles quickly followed – you may know her best from roles on hit shows like Numb3rs, Mad Men and Glee. Currently portraying Dr. April Kepner on Grey’s Anatomy, we were eager to know what’s next for this busy lady.

You began your TV debut in 1997 when you lent your voice to the MTV cartoon series, Daria, as Stacey Rowe. You now star as a doctor on TV’s hottest show, Grey’s Anatomy. What has been your favorite role to play throughout your TV career?
Sarah Drew  Susie Pepper on Glee! She is so kooky and crazy.  It's really fun to get to be big and broad in a comedic role.  I hope I get to return to Glee for an episode or two and bring back the crazy!!

R: Fashion touches every aspect of the entertainment industry. How would you describe your personal style?
SD: My style is very eclectic.  Sometimes I pull out the bad ass biker chick look, sometimes I'm dressed head to toe in Anthropologie and sometimes I rock the ‘20s, ‘50s or ‘60s vintage look.  I like trying new things and having fun with all sorts of different looks.

R: When you’re not busy with rehearsals and filming, what are some hobbies you take part in during your down time?
SD: My husband and I love cooking, hosting and throwing parties.  I'm incredibly passionate about community and L.A. is a hard place to find community, so I like to bring people into my home and allow friendships to form and community to grow.  We cook dinner for twelve friends every Wednesday night.  That's my highlight of the week.

R: Tons of celebrities are heavily involved in various forms of philanthropy that many are not aware of. Do you support any non-profit organizations?
SD:  My husband and I give away 10% of everything we make.  We have 20 different organizations we support and really believe in.  One of my favorites is My Sister's Keeper.  It is a women-led, women-focused, humanitarian action group currently focused on supporting the aspirations of women in the Sudan.

R: What types of characters are you dying to play and why?
SD: I would like to play someone really dark and sexy.  I've played a lot of virginal girl-next-door types. I've mastered awkward for sure.  It would be cool to play a femme fatale type of character!
