Memories Mayle 252 Elizabeth Street

This morning as I was thinking about what to wear, I stumbled upon my black lace skirt from fall 2002. This was one of the first seasons where Mayle was out of control expensive (for the time). I remember that the skirt cost $515, which was a lot. I had received $500 in gift cards for my birthday and I was buying the black boucle/lurex dress ($525), the skirt and the black skirt like the dress (I am a sucker for multiples). When Rebekkah told me the total I was in shock, but forked over $1100 (this was before tax was lowered to 4.375%).

It was one of my very favorite seasons. I remember going to visit Rebekkah pretty often on Sundays that winter as a football widow - no one was shopping the store because it was so expensive. We would sit in the comfy chairs in the back by the mirror and gossip, Rebekkah would knit and somehow the day would fly by it would be 6PM and I would bid adieu. Jon would always ask what I did that day and I would always just say hang out at Mayle with Rebekkah (he thought I was crazy) Some of my most favorite pieces, memories and friendships came from that season.
