I recently watched a documentary made by National Geographic called 'Restrepo', which documents the ravages of warfare that a US Army platoon must endure while staying at a remote outpost in Afghanistan. The entire film covers a wide range of emotions as it tells the story of the men who live and die there while fighting the Taliban. The combat footage is real, there is no acting. What struck me the most is the intense realism. There is no fakeness here. There are no Hollywood actors or everyday actors. The hell these men endure strips away all but who they really are. It is something I think every American should see. One part was strikingly powerful, when one of the sergeants is shot, laying there lifeless and bloodied, the reactions of his fellow troops. Grown men, hardened by months of constant combat, crying and wailing like little children. I cannot express here the deep sick feeling I got when watching that. And while it was hard to watch, I am so glad that I did.
This documentary is completely apolitical. There is no agenda other than telling the story of these soldiers as they endure the hell of combat in the Korengal Valley, Afghanistan. Or so I thought. Alas, the left wing in America proves me wrong yet again. After watching, I decided to check out Restrepo on IMDB to see what others had to say about it. Not only had leftists run rampant on the message boards decrying the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, they had vile and insulting words for the very troops (even the deceased) who were shown in the film!
It makes me sick and angry to think there are actually people out there in the United States who legitimately hate our country so much, that they hate our dead soldiers. I have no words.
After spending a good twenty minutes reading the posts from coward, pot smoking, hippie boys hiding behind their keyboards and computer screens I noticed a couple of trends in their thinking.
1) All the troops are brainwashed pawns who enjoy killing
2) America is an imperialist nation and the cause of all the world's woes
Both of these accusations are only subconscious attempts to mask their own cowardice and lack of manhood. Idiots who say such things are ignorant people in denial. They have no merit. I ask you, if you are one of these scum maggots, why are you so quick to accuse American troops of barbarity but you never acknowledge the heinous crimes of the Taliban? Does our military hang eight year old boys and elderly women? Does our military stone women if they are raped by a man? Does our military sever the heads of captured enemy combatants with dull blades?
This moves us to point number two. If America is such an imperialist nation, why have we not completely seized every oil field in Iraq and poppy field in Afghanistan for our benefit and why have we not enslaved their people? Imperialist nations don't spend their very own money rebuilding the nations they "occupy". They take the resources there. Imperialist nations don't construct schools in the lands they conquer. Imperialist nations don't help set up democratic elections for the countries they invade. Why are Iraq and Afghanistan not annexed territories of the US? Left wing scum like these people have absolutely no grasp of history. A history lesson is in order. Egypt, Rome, Greece, Persia, Ottoman Turkey, Spain/Portugal, Napoleonic France, and Nazi Germany were imperialist empires. Difference between America and said empires: they annexed the territory and enslaved the people they conquered. The United States has not even come close to either of these actions. The next time one of you hippies says the United States being in Iraq or Afghanistan is an "imperialist occupation" you deserve a slap in the face with a history textbook. I thought the left were the intellectually enlightened!
The next time I am confronted by an anti-American liberal who presents either of the above arguments I will swiftly bury both inane statements in a matter of seconds. Why? I can personally attest to the exceptional qualities of the American military and its relationship to its enemies. I am a medic. Myself and my fellow soldiers have been tasked out by the US Army specifically to treat captured enemy prisoners here in Iraq. We treat Al Qaida detainees to the same standard we would treat a wounded American soldier. Hardly the actions of a bloodthirsty military and an imperialist occupation. I speak from personal experience and I will trump ANYONE who says otherwise!
And to those who openly mock the actions of dead soldiers, where is your humanity?

Iraq heating up.
Surging Iraq violence: Have we seen this story before?
Iraq is fast becoming the next forgotten war. In addition, Afghanistan is also fading into the shadows, even though American troops are still dying there. Americans are tired, they don't care anymore while the economic and entertainment news of the day dominates the headlines.
The death toll in Iraq yesterday, with at least 70 murdered in attacks across the country, was bad enough. But the scope of the killing carries worrying echoes of the way sectarian warfare ramped up across Iraq starting in late 2003, leading to the country's civil war.
The sheer scale of the activity yesterday makes it hard to dismiss events as the work of a handful of terrorists. Car bombs at a market in the southern city of Kut killed about 40. A suicide attack killed three policemen at the government counterterrorism center in Tikrit, the hometown of executed former Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein. Four Iraqi soldiers were killed by a roadside bomb in the Sunni town of Baquba, north of Baghdad. Separate car bombs in Baquba and nearby Khan Bani Saad killed eight.
In the Shiite holy city of Najaf, a suicide car bomb attacked the police headquarters, seeking to open the way for other militants. Seven people were murdered in that attack. There were multiple attacks in the ethnically and religiously mixed city of Kirkuk, with extensive damage done to a Syriac Orthodox Christian church there.

Footage from the front lines in Afghanistan.
This British journalist has the thrill of a lifetime when the American troops he is embedded with come under fire and annihilate the Taliban.

Osama is finally dead. Where do we go from here?
I got news of Osama bin Laden's death early this morning. It couldn't have put me in a better mood. Morale is high here among the troops; many soldiers I know who were once distraught are now pumped up. The fire we had after 9/11 is back. I have just a few things I want to say about this recent event.
I keep seeing images and videos of half drunk, jubilant Americans shouting and partying in the streets over this. Tomorrow they will be silent. Just like the memory of September 11th faded from so many Americans' minds, so will this. It's just another vain way for people to feel good and patriotic again. Chanting "USA, USA, USA" in the street for a day will do nothing to help the war effort, especially following that up with a chant of "Obama, Obama Obama". A real way you, as an American, can celebrate this is to begin supporting political candidates who sincerely believe in what we are doing, not two faced liars who say one thing, do another, and then claim credit for something they are totally against. While we are on the subject of Americans celebrating I would like to encourage every last person who did not support the war in Afghanistan, or decided it was time for us to retreat even once these past years, to please SIT DOWN and SHUT UP. I don't want to hear a peep from you. If we had your way and accepted defeat, we never would have scored this victory. So for all the defeatists, you should have nothing to say.
Osama bin Laden may be dead, but the War on Terrorism (War on Islamofacsism) is not, nor will it ever be. There are thousands upon thousands of radical Islamic terrorists in the Middle East, in Europe, and likely even in America who are still eager to attack us, if not more so now. It is common knowledge here in Iraq that attacks will now step up because of this. They likely will in Afghanistan too. Expect more terror attacks and general increases in Islamic terror activity in Europe as well. This fight isn't over. I keep hearing people saying how now that Osama is dead the war is magically over and we should pull out of Afghanistan. This is naive and foolish. The enemy is now more emboldened than ever. The American people need to understand this. We do here.
Next, let's get something straight and give credit where it is due. To give President Barack Obama credit for this is completely idiotic. Credit goes to our military, whom Obama has not supported,
as well as President Bush. Like him or not, President Bush laid the groundwork for this kill, while a then Senator Obama did nothing but criticize and whine. Now we watch on CNN as King Obama puffs his chest out for this monumental achievement, "I, I, I." Likely he views it as nothing more than an addition to his war chest for the upcoming campaign.
I know the truth. And the truth is this. The death of Osama bin Laden is only symbolic. We can rejoice as Americans today. But the war isn't over. This very moment, motivated and angered Muslims are preparing plans for their next attacks on Westerners. The worst thing we can do is let up. The best thing we can do is ratchet up the offensive and continue to show the enemy that we are just as motivated, determined, and willing to continue killing them!

Political correctness makes its way into the US military
It appears the minions of the ultra PC left have flung their dung in such a wide radius, that even the United States military isn't safe. We already witnessed this with the Obama led repeal of Don't Ask Don't Tell during a time of war. If that wasn't psycho enough, now our troops on the ground in Afghanistan will be subjected to Gay Sensitivity Training!
I want to know why, in a time of war, is it necessary to even consider mentioning the issue of homosexual soldiers? Who cares! The focus should be the mission. The objective. Anyone who has been through basic training knows this. Instead of focusing all of our energy, resources, and time on annihilating the Taliban, our command thinks it pertinent to make sure all our soldiers accept sodomy in the ranks! SHAME on you!
It's disgusting and appalling our country has fallen such a long way in such a short period of time. Whatever happened to the greatest generation? We've gone from a nation of tough, independent, patriotic warriors and pioneers to a culture-less smattering of weak, entitled, careless appeasers!

| "You guys haven't made any gay jokes have you? You know that's against the law right?" |
This is coming straight from the top, initiated by our very own president himself, and executed by his weakling Secretary of Defense! How nice of them.

Speaking from military experience.....this training is a joke and will be treated as such by the troops who have to go through it!
