Giving Thanks - For Friends

If you are my friend, I bless you.
If you listen to my problems and not condemn me, I bless you.
If you allow me to be truthful, and not have to watch what I say, I bless you.
If you offer sincere suggestions, I bless you.
If you join me in my pity party, because all of us must have them for mental health reasons, I bless you.
If you make me laugh when I most need it, I bless you.

New Friends......

Don't you like to meet and make new friends?
I know I do.

This week I was an award from some one I've never met, online or in person! HA~
That's happened before but I never usually post the awards because I feel "bad" for others out there that never get any.
So I hate to flaunt mine when they come to me.

But I will today just to be a "good girl."

I always appreciate the gifts and efforts from others that are given to me. And it does make one feel good I have to say.

It was VERY sweet to be thought of by my new friend at.....
Thru Pink Curtains check out her site and see what she's up to and WHY her spot is called....."Thru Pink Curtains."

This was me the past few days. Well.....not exactly but it's a very good example.
We had TONS of rain from "Fay"...thank goodness she's passed.

But now we have this thing to wonder about......ugh!
Our local weather forcasters are already "talking to us" about this hurricane. Because it's going to get bigger they are expecting it to build to at least a Catagory 3 is what I just heard on the news.

I wonder when this thing is coming into the Gulf.
I don't even want to THINK about it.

But when you live in Louisiana......you have to.
We don't mess around with hurricanes.
My family doesn't anyway.
BELIEVE ME.....
we have HAD our share of bad experiences with those things.
So we have to prepare.

Besides.....my husband is the
"BIG DADDY" of preparation for most anything that is especially a potential crisis....so that's a good thing.
HA!

I think this time though if that thing is coming......I want to flee north.
Maybe to Hot Springs and hang out there..that would be nice.

Yikes!!!!
....I just remembered.....we have that major trip planned to
New York City at the end of September.

I hope this isn't going to interfere with it.
I guess I will have to keep my eye on it. And especially PRAY!

Saturday Surprise!

(sorry the camera did weird things to my shirt)

I was sitting at my computer this morning having a bit of a good breakfast...
WHOOPS....I meant this...and writing an e-mail to Julie at "Celtic Lady" when my front doorbell rang.

I could see the mailman's truck outside on the street so I knew it had to be a package...but I was baffled as to what he could be bringing since since I haven't ordered anything online lately.

Once opening the door.....I see it is a package from "K.J."
at "Eye-dyllic." Who is all the way in sunny Southern California.
She's cute isn't she? This is her and her little boy.

She had written me the other day to tell me she was sending me a package but it sure came faster than I expected....it was a "Priority box."
So I peeked into it......CUUUTE!..."pink styrofoam peanuts" and whatever the "precious cargo" is...it's wrapped in brown tissue paper. Cool....I love pink and brown together.

Hummmm.....so I unwrap the "surprise" and "WOW"K.J. has been reading my posts and remembered that I said earlier that...."I love paper napkins" and did she EVER send me some cute ones...and several packages of them.
Okay, so we have a total of SIX packages of various cute paper napkins....a nice cello package of tea tied with a neat black ribbon...a COASTER...

This I am loving this because did you notice earlier what I sit my tea mug on?
A paper napkin.

I do this every day when working at my desk...I always put my teacup and saucer or tea mug on one.... odd habit I know but it catches any "drips." HA!

Now however, I can use this sweet little coaster.

Great ideal K.J.!!!
And last but not least....a package of "sticky notes"....I am into sticky notes too and there is NO way she could have known this!

These are SPECIAL ones too because they say....."This Pad has been Clinicially Proven to prevent senior moments.....not to be taken internally!" HA~HA!

Funnny.......hey wait a minute....K.J. how old do you think I am?? I mean I am only..ummm..ummm..never mind I forgot how old I am...HA! Not really I'm just joking I'm 29 as usual. HA!

My friend always says that. She wrote this in a book she gave me one year for my birthday....."Happy Birthday to Joyce on her 29th birthday!"

Boy did it ever feel like my birthday today...

Isn't it GRAND to get a package in the mail for no apparent reason other than someone very sweet, and KIND, is thinking of you and takes the
"time, effort and expense"
just to
BLESS YOU??

Thank you K.J...your awesome!

"Tea and Consorting with Friends on a Thursday"

Last Thursday, my good Friend Marsha invited me and another friend over for Tea. I knew it would be a grand thing from the moment I hung up the phone because Marsha used to own the premier Tea Room in our area and she never does anything "half way."

Many us loved to go to "The Hope Chest" as it was appropriately named, not only for the High Teas that she served...but also for the occasional opportunity to "get away from it all....."

At The Hope Chest you were able to find a spot of quiet where you could not only relax from the craziness going on just beyond the doors, but you could also enjoy her lovely "Cream Tea" that she served daily. It was a "self treat" that I miss to this day.Sadly, she needed to close her beloved Tea Room after so many years of blessing the entire community with her great food and hospitality. Her husband had just recently passed away and she needed to take some time away and rightly so.

I knew that Marsha would fix this "Tea" up "nicely" for Tricia and Myself, and I was NOT a bit disappointed when I went to the back door of her lovely home and she had a cute wooden sign hanging on the doorknob that stated......
"Enter in, Tea being served."

So I let myself in......Marsha was no where to be found at the moment, but I did see this.......
And this.....
Then out came Marsha, "The Tea Baroness."

She had been in the back of the house doing some odd task. This was the table set up.

Tricia arrived shortly thereafter as well and we began our journey of "Tea, Eating, and Consorting".....I say "Consorting" because we had so much to talk about in regards to "possibly opening a new tea room and such".....I will keep it all a secret for now. The "Treasure Trove of Tea"
I called Marsha the "Tea Baroness" earlier because she really does hold a Royal Title in Tea I feel. She knows SO much about it all, flavors, types, textures, tastes, brewing techniques, etc.
She is a wealth of tea knowledge.

Right before Marsha shut her shop doors....she was called upon by Dillard's here in town and "contracted" to do a very special "Tea" in honor of Lord Wedgewood the "Ambassador" for the famous "Wedgewood" China and Pottery lines of products.

He was making many rounds of visits in America at that time and just happened to hit our city of Baton Rouge, as well.

For those of you who are not familier with who I am talking about, let me give you this brief bio on him.
Lord Piers Anthony Weymouth Wedgwood of Barlaston is the 13th descendant of Josiah Wedgwood, the original founder of the "Wedgewood" company.
That day of the Dillard's event Marsha, and three other ladies ran off to take care of those festivities while back at the shop.....my friend Diane and I along with another lady, ran two teas back at the shop for another 21 women at the same time.
Talk about a crazy day!

The very fun thing is.....and we laughed about this Thursday at Tea.

It was that "Lord Wedgewood, told Marsha something that day at Dillard's that we all already knew."
He said to her that day, "That she made the BEST tasting Cucumber Sandwiches, he had ever had in his lifetime."

That my friends was one mighty fine "kudos" from a cucumber sandwich connoisseur.
Wouldn't you say so as well?

I like to think that perchance Lord Wedgewood "fancied" Marsha's "Tea delicacies" and was indulging her.
Possibly to take her back to England to make him cucumber sandwich's.
Very GOOD ones.

~Note~:
Today is Marsha's Birthday.....you may leave her your well wishes here if you like and I will make sure she sees them.
The child in this photo looks JUST LIKE MARSHA....she has the "same red hair and exact same hairstyle" as well!

IT could have been Marsha as a little girl. HA! HA!

Be blessed Marsha, my friend!

Hey ya'll!
Here's a chance to get a surprise from me, on a surprise date, in the next 365 days. (I'm responding to this via Steph's Cup of Tea)

Here are the rules:

1.~Leave a comment on my blog that says you want to play. First three folks to comment will get a gift! (If I don't know it already, let me know how I can contact you, an e-mail is fine.)

2.~Do the same thing on your blog!

The first three folks who leave a comment and commit to doing this on their blog, too, will get a surprise from me at a surprise time in the next 365 days!

This should prove to be fun.....and interesting.

This is a great way to make new friends too.....let's see what happens.

Fab Friday

This has been an interesting and busy week for some reason but I am not complaining.....I'm THANKFUL that I am able to do what I've been doing.

Today I am off to meet a friend at an "Irish" restaurant...fun......then tonight my husband and I have a "Valentine's Day Dinner" to go to at some friends of ours home and it will be FUN as well....one more couple will be there as well. Mutual friends of the host wife and mine...our friend Susan who just went through the Breast cancer surgery.....and her husband.

I know my friend Diane is already into "painstakingly" setting up and cooking this dinner. It's her "gift." She has the "gift of hospitality" big time so she is very into this and I love that we are all able to "recieve" from her and her kindness.

It's very overcast and dreary here. I'm not sure what it's like where you are. ButI wish you sunshine. Or a nice nap.

I was very sad to hear last night about the lastest shootings in upper Illinois.

May PEACE and mercy come on those families of the victims and to the people of that area.

We lost THREE young women in our own town last week due to this same type of situation at a local college.
It is SO wrong for these things to happen.

I am thinking of them all today.
