Whitney Port Making Acting Debut With Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez!
Like her former Hills costars Audrina Patridge and Heidi Montag, Whitney Port has big screen aspirations.
The 26-year-old Whitney Eve fashion designer has joined the cast of Lionsgate's What to Expect When You're Expecting, Us Weekly has confirmed. The A-list cast includes Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Matthew Morrison, Brooklyn Decker, Elizabeth Banks, Dennis Quaid, Chace Crawford, Joe Manganiello, Anna Kendrick, Chris Rock, Cheryl Cole and Rodrigo Santoro.
"She is playing herself. She will be in one scene with one line," a source tells Us. "She isn't a big part of the movie. [NBA player] Dwyane Wade is also in that scene playing himself."
Based on the non-fiction book of the same name, What to Expect When You're Expecting follows five couples who "suffer the many joys of the childbirth process."

Moderate Muslims exhibit some much needed sanity.
Ha! You didn't think I was actually serious did you?
Police arrest 15 at Playland in dispute over Muslim headwear
Yet again, we see that the "moderate" American Muslim is no more than a conjured character of the left in order to further deny the threat of Islam. No, these Muslims are not killing anybody. But what does behavior like this tell you? It tells me that they believe they are above the law, that their "religion" makes them superior to all others, and that if anyone questions them, disagrees with them, or tells them they cannot do something they want to do then they are a victim. Like I have said before, Islam is incompatible with American society, and the West in general. Muslims are consciously using our Constitution and leniency against us.
Police arrest 15 at Playland in dispute over Muslim headwear
A melee broke out Tuesday afternoon at Playland Amusement Park when Muslim visitors became angry that the park was enforcing its ban on headgear by prohibiting the women from wearing their traditional head coverings on some rides.
Police from at least nine agencies converged on the park beginning at 3 p.m. after county police sought assistance in responding to the disturbance, which involved 30 to 40 people.
...
The park was crowded with Muslims celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr, one of Islam’s two major holidays. Most were from community groups in Westchester and New York City as part of a daylong event arranged by the Muslim American Society of New York.
“It’s unfortunate because everybody just wants to be home with their families today,” said Zead Ramadan of the Council on American Islamic Relations.
...
Earlier, a park cashier told a Journal News reporter that a woman wearing a hijab either pushed or hit a ride operator who forbade her from going on the ride. She said a police officer tried to restrain the woman and the woman’s husband took offense, at which point a multiple-person fight broke out.
Vidya Balan in ’The Dirty Picture’
New Delhi: Forget the bespectacled Radhika of the "Hum Paanch" series, the demure Lalita of "Parineeta" or even the rustic Krishna of "Ishqiya"! An evolved Vidya Balan paints "The Dirty Picture" red with her killer pout, sultry dance, deep cleavage and her bold stance, leaving you sighing and singing "Ooh la la! Ooh la la".
When producer Ekta Kapoor told IANS "I would be surprised if I don't get unbelievable critical acclaim for 'Dirty Picture' and a national award for my actress, Vidya Balan", she sure didn't mean it for nothing.
"The Dirty Picture" trailer resonates her promise with aplomb.
The story of southern sex siren Silk Smitha -- her rise as a glamour girl thanks to her bold and semi-nude roles in movies, and her gradual fall owing to new entrants in the market, her financial crisis and personal problems -- "The Dirty Picture" is set to have Vidya at her glamorous, boldest and sultry best.
If the first poster of the film, with Vidya showing off her cleavage in an itsy bitsy red blouse, didn't spell fire, the one minute 30-second trailer sure makes you go "Ooh la la" - in tune with disco king Bappi Lahiri's spicy rendition of a song which says "Tu hai meri fantasy...".
The Munnis and the Sheilas of Bollywood can take a backseat for a while because the 33-year-old Vidya, even with her not so washboard abs, might just become every man's fantasy with her titillating moves, curvaceous frame, playfulness, and sensuous ways in her scenes with Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor and Bollywood's very own serial kisser Emraan Hashmi.
With its into-the-face dialogues, the trailer itself might leave many gasping like Tusshar when Vidya says: "Mujhe jo chahiye uska mazza raat ko hee aata hai" and many ogling like Naseer does when she decks up for a film shoot.
Perhaps what the trailer misses is the dark side of Silk Smitha's story, which the film is expected to highlight. But it does its job and it does it well.
It's been just six years since Vidya made her Bollywood debut with "Parineeta", but in the short period, the actress showed her fearless streak by roles that are as different as chalk and cheese like "Ishqiya" and "Paa".
Her choice of unconventional scripts with experimental roles that challenge the actor in her has continued to set an example of what it takes to strike the right balance between commercial and parallel cinema.
If it was a lonely lover in her first movie, Bengali project "Bhalo Theko", Vidya went on to show her subtle and romantic side in "Parineeta". In "Lage Raho Munnabhai", she was seen in a conventional role, but she played it unconventionally.
Her performance in "Guru" as a multiple sclerosis patient may have been short, but it didn't go unnoticed. Her films "Salaam-e-Ishq", "Heyy Babyy" and "Kismat Konnection" may not have done much to boost her film career, but Vidya remained dauntless.
She broke all doubts about her dancing skills through her performance on the song "Ami je tomar" in "Bhool Bhulaiyaa".
For a brief period, her choice of dresses was talk of the town and was much criticised, but Vidya kept to her work and when she returned as single mother in "Paa", her high-voltage performance shut the wagging tongues.
"Ishqiya" further strengthened filmmakers' belief in her versatility and capacity as an actor. In Abhishek Chaubey's film, Vidya convincingly played a conniving and manipulative woman who doesn't shy away from using her sexuality to fulfil her goals.
And then "No One Killed Jessica" saw her in a completely different avatar. Based on the real-life Jessica Lall murder case, the movie saw her as a grieving sister who runs from pillar to post to get justice for her sister.
After entertaining viewers with her plain Jane look, Vidya has now picked up a contrasting role in "The Dirty Picture". She oozes oomph like never before and one wonders if the movie will be Vidya's next stepping stone to her ever-rising success story.
Directed by Milan Luthria, the film will release Dec 2, which is Silk Smitha's birth anniversary.

Lauren Conrad: Behind The Scenes Of Her Latest Photo Shoot
LC has the tweeted a photo of herself on a shoot wearing the prettiest hair ribbon and I instantly wanted to see more like it. Thanks to Twitter, I didn’t have to wait for long!
Almost immediately after seeing Lauren Conrad‘s Tweet, that read: “Just wrapped a shoot with the wonderful @SteveErle http://yfrog.com/h4exbyej,” I saw her hairstylist comment on the hair accessory used and showed us many more just like it!
Lauren’s celebrity hairstylist, Kristin Ess, tweeted at LC, saying, “A little hair accessory heaven for @LaurenConrad‘s shoot today. Thanks @BHLDN! http://campl.us/eaN2”
Not only did Kristin show us more cute hair accessories, but she tells us exactly where to get them! BHLDN has gorgeous, vintage-inspired pieces that are romantic and one of a kind!
Would YOU try LC’s look?

I am co-applying for World Dominator.
It isn't every day that I post twice. Actually, it's never. Also, I didn't feel like being productive at work. You're welcome.
This is a gem about my bestie Kelly-elly-ahoooo.
Ok, so Kelly-elly-ahooooo doesn’t make sense to any of you, I know this. But keep in mind I can’t explain EVERY joke between me and my friends or I would be writing blog posts all day and not making any money at my real-life job. Just know that its really really really funny, k? Thanks. Also, say Kelly-elly-ahooooo like you are a yodeller. I'll wait.
See? I bet you are laughing now. Seriously. Funny. Shit.
Anyways...
I have a group of girlfriends that I email every day with pretty repeatedly. Like I delete about 374 emails a day. And that's not including my sent box. Seriously. It’s actually a wonder I get any work done, with that and writing blog posts, and should probably be the recipient of some major multi-tasking award. In fact, they should make that a Pulitzer category. Just sayin’.
*Multi-tasking right now, emailing Switzerland or wherever the hell these Pulitzer people are with that very suggestion*
I have now lost two of the girlfriends to school and unemployment* so starting yesterday Kelly-Elly-Ahooooo is my only email friend during working hours. This excites me and saddens me. Excites because she’s super awesome and now I get to email her even more than before because I have freed up some time not emailing the other two, but saddens me because the other two are pretty awesome also and I feel a little empty not having my email box light up with their name.
Also? I digress. A LOT.
So today, Kelly-Elly-Ahoooo and I are discussing how awesome we are (as usual) and making some pretty major decisions and agreeing that we are pretty amazing at making said decision together thus making us qualified to tackle some of life’s significant dilemmas. And writing run-on sentences. It’s sort of a given that we’re brilliant y’all.
This is pretty much a cut and paste. Almost.
Kelly-elly-ahooooo: Oh man I’m such a geek underneath all this gorgeousness! And I am not vain at all. Just brilliant. And gorgeous
Me: Yes you are. Only brilliant and gorgeous people know each other, so I am pretty much guaranteed to be that as well. Probably.
Kelly-elly-ahooooo: Perfect!!! Done and Done then. Do you think we should take on global warming next!?!?!
Me: I am not sure what “Done and Done” means since I didn’t ask you to do anything. Plus, we should start smaller... but I like your enthusiasm
Kelly-elly-ahoooo: Ok AIDS it is then!
Me: I was thinking more a long the lines of world starvation… but AIDS’ll do
Kelly-elly-ahooooo: Well I was factoring in that we’ll have more people to feed once we’ve kicked AID’s ass and so that would then next logical task going forward.
Me: Very logical indeed. Perhaps after AIDS, and world starvation, we could tackle mosquito’s? They are annoying little bastards.
I cannot confirm or deny if this picture was photo shopped. |
So you see, we’re not just gorgeous…but brilliant decision makers. I have a feeling that if either of us ran for World Dominator we would win by a landslide. What do you think? And there totally has to be a political position called World Dominator. Isn’t that who Donald Trump THINKS he is?
UPDATE: Just a thought, but every time I come back on here and make an edit (I don't spell good. Or use proper grammar. Usually) do my 'subscribers-by-email' get another email? I wonder. Cause that would be annoying.
*She's only unemployed for a week and starts a new job next Tuesday. Which makes me happy. It's been along week without her emails and it's only Tuesday. I am needy.
The Dayron Robles - Liu Xiang video
JG: The video clearly shows that Dayron Robles interfered with Liu Xiang, not once, but twice. His comments today, at the Atlanta Journal Constitution, that "being Cuban cost me hurdles gold medal" shows very poor sportsmanship on his part.
Michelle Bachmann goes to Miami to kiss the asses of the gusanos
The Minnesota congresswoman paid a midday visit to the Bay of Pigs Museum and then became the latest in a long line of candidates to stop by the Versailles Restaurant, where she pledged to "stand up against our enemies like the communist Castro brothers in Cuba."

I am bitchy and judgmental. So there's that...
I have a beef.
And no, not the medium-rare juicy T-bone kinda beef. I have a complaint. I am probably going to come across as judgmental and bitchy, but that’s never really stopped me before.
There are about a Kajillion of us Mommy Bloggers out there; single parents, stay-at-homers, working moms and parents of challenged children, just to name a few. We blog for our own reasons whether they are personal, educational, or emotional outlets, and we generally support each other as though we are family. It’s almost like a club really, one that we all want to belong to and feel so accepted when we do. I know I feel lucky that I have such a support system online, as I am sure many of you do as well.
But that’s where the rainbows and lollipops end for me.
While I love and support so many of you in your daily struggles, I cannot for one second stomach those ‘Mommy Bloggers’ that post their dirty laundry for sympathy and attention.
Was that harsh?
It’s so hard actually to put into words what I mean here, even though I am attempting to, so if I insult you in any way I encourage you to comment here so I have a chance to further explain.
I do not personally converse with any of these ‘Mommy Bloggers’ that I feel do this (by linking to, or commenting on their blogs) and I shake my head at the ones I come across with blatant self-pity and over-sharing of personal issues. To me, those blogs should be kept personal, and their purpose saved as reflection and growth for the writer, not as a public forum for attention.
But who am I to judge them? And if I don’t like it, I shouldn’t read it, right?
I don’t speak generally here. I am not clumping these ‘Mommy Bloggers’ into their own category. It’s all subjective. I have posted extremely personal things here on A Life Less Ordinary that probably contradicts my whole opinion on this post. So shame on me.
But here is the clarification: I write for my own therapy, and almost 100% for humor. NOT FOR ATTENTION OR SYMPATHY. It’s the motivation that annoys me.
But how can you tell what the writer’s motivation is?
Truthfully, I don’t. How can I? It’s just a feeling. And I have probably been wrong on numerous occasions. In fact, I KNOW I have. But when I go back day after day to read the same drivel, I can’t help but feel like the attention being garnered is deliberate, and not situational.
We all have our personal problems and struggles. And we should all feel as though we have our community to listen, support and encourage, I truly believe that. I am just annoyed at the ones that are never-ending cries of ‘Look at me! My problems are way worse than yours! Can’t you see? I talk about it EVERY DAY!”
I hope that I haven’t come across like some mean-spirited cold-hearted bitch. If I have, I am sorry. But truthfully, I feel better knowing I got this off of my bitchy, judgmental chest.

Michele Bachman scares the shit out of me
It’s Monday, which means I am at my bitchiest. For some reason, Sunday nights are the bane of my existence, and I cannot function Monday mornings without a pitcher of coffee and some space from my coworkers. And even then, it’s still touch and go.
While my weekend was great, I am beginning to realize that when you require a weekend to recover from your weekend, YOU ARE WAY TOO OLD FOR THIS SHIT.
BUT, I did kick ass at beer darts. Just sayin’.
I missed my Monday Shank last week because I truly didn’t have anyone I had any interest in shanking (shocking I know, and even more surprising when I learned that 2 people found my blog by searching “sometimes, I cut a bitch”) but this week, I cannot ignore someone.
I JUST CANNOT IGNORE YOU MICHELE BACHMAN. You seriously make my head roll.
I wont make this a long post commenting about American politics because I am less qualified than a 5 year old, but I will say that EVERY SINGLE news article about this woman makes me want to cut a bitch. Seriously.
Reinstate “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell?”
Wishing Elvis a Happy Birthday, on the day he DIED?
Hurricane Irene was a warning from God?
She's running for presidency y'all, so stop asking her relevant questions, DUH!!!!!
So today, you are being awarded my Monday Shank because you might possibly be the craziest bitch to ever walk this earth. Even crazier than Sarah Palin but that’s only because she made me laugh repeatedly when she was running for president. She gets extra points for being funny crazy. Sorry.
And for those of you judging me for posting ‘news links’ from Perez Hilton…don’t hate. It’s how I roll.

Star kids shine in Malayalam cinema
Do as daddy and mummy do... it's been the easy way out for many in various disciplines. And also in the Malayalam film industry that has seen the entry of the sons of superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal and a whole lot of others.
Pranav Mohanlal, who worked as a child artiste in 2001 movie "Punarjani" and won the best child artiste state film award, took a break to finish his studies. He returned to showbiz with 2008 movie "Sagar Alias Jacky" and has since been waiting in the wings for a good film.
Mammootty's son Dulquar Salman will face the arclights for the first time with the Malayalam film "Second Show".
"He and his friends have joined hands for it," said Mammootty.
There are others.
While Vineeth Sreenivasan, son of writer-producer-director-actor Sreenivasan made it big in no time, the others who have begun their journey include Shanu, son of director Fazil, and Shameer Khan, grandson of the late evergreen hero Prem Nazir.
For Shanu, this is his second innings after his debut movie "Kaiyethum Doorathu" bombed at the box office in 2002 and he made a quick exit to complete his higher studies in the US. He returned in 2009 with "Kerala Cafe" and recently featured in "Chaappa Kurish".
Shameer, who has taken the screen name of Prem Nazir Jr, debuted this year with "Uppukandam Brothers - Back in Action".
Commenting on Prem Nazir Jr's debut, politician-actor Rajmohan Unnithan, who featured in "Uppukandam Brothers", said the film did well, but it could have done better had the producer done a bit more of marketing.
Last year's release "Orkut Oru Ormakoot" had seen the debut of several star children -- like Joe Sibi Malayil, son of renowned director Sibi Malayil; Ben Lalu Alex, son of ace character actor Lalu Alex; Anu Mohan, son of actress Sobha Mohan; and Vishnu Raghav, son of still photographer Gopalakrishnan.
Ann Augustine, daughter of producer-actor Augustine, made her debut with the blockbuster "Elsamma Enna Aankutty" last year. After the roaring success of her first film, Ann has signed up a string of new films.
However, not all the star children are facing the camera. Some are venturing into direction or the technical side of filmmaking.
Revathy and Keerthi, daughters of yesteryear actress Maneka and producer Suresh Kumar, decided to follow their father and concentrate on the technical aspects of filmmaking.
"Our elder daughter is doing her Masters in Animation from a college in Florida. Our younger daughter Keerthi, after acting as a child artiste, has also decided to move away from the greasepaint, and is now finishing her course in fashion designing," Kumar told IANS.
Sidharth, son of late director Bharatan and actress KPAC Lalitha, made his debut as an actor in "Nammal" in 2000 but soon realised he is not meant for acting. So he worked as an assistant to Priyadarshan and is now a full-time director.
It is believed that star children are crowding in after the stupendous success of Prithviraj and Indrajeeth, sons of late character actor Sukumaran and actress Mallika Sukumaran.
In a short time, the two have firmly established themselves in the industry.

Ramadan treat: Malayalam Movies
In terms of minting money at boxoffice, Ramadan is next only to Onam. And the Malayalam film industry is all set to celebrate Ramadan in style.
'Thejabhai and family', 'My dear Kuttichathan' in new avatar, 'Sevenes' and 'Pranayam' would be released this weekend. Eyeing the Ramadan market, director Siddique's debut Bollywood venture, the Salman-starrer 'Bodyguard', will also go on the floors Wednesday.
Though Blessy's Pranayam has superstar Mohanlal teaming up with Jayapradha and Anupam Kher, its offbeat treatment distances the film from those conventional larger-than-life superstar flicks. The other biggie Mammootty, who is yet to deliver a blockbuster this year, has no new films for the season.
Dileep's Mr. Marumakan, which was earlier slated as an Onam release, too has been postponed.
That said, Prithviraj and co. are the ones who are likely to bask in limelight this festive season. According to trade experts, any big film that releases during this period is sure to draw 20 % more audience.
Director Deepu Karunakaran's romcom 'Tejabhai and family', all set to be released on Ramadan day, has Prithviraj playing the lead role of an underworld don. The digitalised version of 'My dear Kuttichathan' would also hit screens August 30.
Yet another Ramadan release, 'Sevenes' set in the backdrop of a football match, has Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, Vineeth Kumar and Nivin Pauly playing lead. Bhavana and Rima Kallingal hold the heroine seats.
Mohanlal's Maxlab Cinemas ensures that the battle is worth a watch with the release of its Kunchakko starrer 'Dr. Love.'

End the Cuba Embargo
The Ledger

The Obama administration's recent decision to give $20 million of taxpayer money to organizations that tell us that they are going to bring "democracy" to Cuba is a total waste of resources and time. We know that — as usual — that money will probably end up in the pockets of the Miami anti-Castro right-wing extremists. Since this huge taxpayer money giveaway started many years ago, more than $150 million have gone down that rat hole.
Although President Barack Obama has enacted some timid and weak reforms in our Cuba policies, the fact of the matter is that, like George W. Bush, Barack Obama continues to support a failed economic embargo against the Caribbean nation. Last October, the United Nations General Assembly condemned it by an overwhelming vote of 187-2. All our NATO allies voted against the United States. Only Israel supported the U.S.
It is time to put an end to the Cuba embargo.
