Back from training.

So I returned home from my month long Uncle Sam funded "excursion" to the barren wasteland we Army folk like to refer to as Fort Polk late last night. I'd love to share with you all of the training and experiences I got there but due to OPSEC (Operational Security) I cannot divulge much. I did receive great training, made some awesome friendships, and ate more MRE's and greasy army eggs and bacon than I can count. Blegh.

I had numerous political talks with all kinds of soldiers, and what I heard from them only reaffirms my opinion that the military is almost entirely anti-Obama. Most people in the Army are conservatives with a little something the hooligans in liberal la la land have obviously never heard of: common sense.

If there's one thing I have learned from the Army it is that the only true cure to racism is to have a sense of humor when it comes to racial slurs, stereotypes, and jokes.

The Army is full of people of all races and backgrounds. I have made friends with blacks, hispanics, asians, arabs, native Americans, and just about every mix in between. When you wake up, eat, train, and sleep together you develop a sense of brotherhood and camaraderie that makes skin color a total non issue. Seeing as most leftists have never served in the military and hate it all together, it is no wonder they cannot understand this.

I met black people that told black jokes that left people rolling on the floor. I met a Puerto Rican that couldn't talk without stereotyping his race in hilarious fashion. I met an Asian that described himself as a twinkie: yellow on the outside, and white on the inside. And it wasn't just them.

How dare they! Someone call the NAACP! Where's Al Sharpton?

All I could think of while conversing with these fellow soldiers is that this is how it should be. People should be comfortable enough to make fun of their own race and have a sense of humor without some uptight liberal wetting their pants. The issue of race is totally erased when you can have a sense of humor about it. It's just sad some of those on the left cannot understand this. They spend most all their energy whining about non existent racism and so called intolerance coming from the conservative right.

It's ironic really. Just days before leaving, I was chastised by some bedwetting liberal on a facebook group for posting the Obama "Swine Flew" joke. For those of you who don't know it, it goes like this:

"I was always told a black man would never become president until pigs could fly. Well Obama became president, and behold 30 days in, Swine Flu."

A few days later down at training I heard this very same joke...told by one of my black friends, which made it all the funnier. Wait, is he racist? No, he just has a sense of humor. Like me. Too bad the liberal who bent over backwards to call me a "KKK Nazi" for telling that joke cannot grasp such a concept as humor. The liberals' brains must be jam packed full of too much BS to accommodate such an inconceivable notion, unless of course it involves Rush Limbaugh or George W. Bush dying.

In summary, it's great to be back and I look forward to blogging again! I won't lie. It was nice being away from the news for a while and not seeing Obama's face or hearing his disgusting voice for 3 weeks straight. But now it's back to the grind! And oh, it looks like there's a lot going on!

Oh yeah. It's also nice to have a flushing toilet again.

sneaky fuckers

I really and truly hate sneaky deceitful fuckers... especially when they get caught, and then try and weasel their way out of it by pretending they were in no way trying to be sneaky, just wanted to talk in person to be more respectful.

Like fuck right off!

I struggle with the thought that there are so many people out there that think they are smarter than everyone else, and that the general population can be fooled by them just by talking words around them.

Hey guess what you sneaky fucker??? Most of the time, we're on to you... we're just too polite to acknowledge your stupid fuckery.

Try taking some lessons.

Crafty Girls With Big Ideas

As I mentioned last week, the Crafty Girls are putting together a book of crafts of their own creation.
Last Friday, I had the second group: PCJL, Storyteller, Good With Words, and My Girl (she was my helper for the session). The girls in the second group had some interesting ideas. The drawing above is by Storyteller. Meet Mr. Man, a mysterious character that's nobody's fool. The red scar near his left eye is the result of some untold adventure and Mr. Man is always prepared for a quick getaway. He comes with a triangle hat and "pack" pack, though I think that Storyteller meant backpack. But who knows for sure. Knowing Storyteller, she might have a reason why it's really called a "pack" pack rather than a backpack.

Good With Words drew a detailed diagram of her recycled bottle piggy bank:

I was completely knocked out by this drawing. Okay, I'm still unclear how exactly she's going to get that tail to coil up like a spring, but she's definitely got everything figured out.

PCJL already started making her denim jean lunch bag project. That kid really knows what she wants to do and how she wants to do it. I have pictures on my camera of the craft that I have yet to download. She's way ahead of everyone else, including me. I'm struggling to keep up.

This week we are going to write and take photos of each kid's finished craft. We have less than a month until Carnival, but I'm feeling really good about our progress.

Stay tuned!

Personal Loans

Now that credit is very tight and money supply is very low, it is best to look for a competent and well respected financial loan lenders. When a particular loan lender has been identified, one can make a much sought after personal loan.

If a person has regular work and have a regular payday check every 15th and 30th day of the month, he can always avail of a
payday loan to compensate whatever is lacking in his personal funds to cover much needed expenses. One can be assured of an instant approval for any kind of loan.

The "Homes" of Savannah

We LOVED the beautiful old homes of Savannah.

Ever since we've come home from our trip....all we have done is work, work, work in our yard, and in our flower beds and on our house.

Not because of the "inspiration" we saw and felt while in Savannah...but because we that live in the South now have HURRICANE SEASON bearing down on us.

Along with the EXTREME heat and humidity here in Louisiana and believe me you won't even want to sit on your patio in the day time when that all comes about.

We are rushing to finish up some projects that are better done in the cooler weather.
Like painting the garage and roofing our house. Ugh! My husband who is a master carpenter and a "Jack of ALL trades" will never pay anyone to do what he can do.

And he still thinks he is 18 years old....so he and our boys are going to be re-roofing our house in a few weeks. I'm not thrilled.

Pray no one falls off the roof....like my husband.

Can you guess why I liked this house?

MEL BROOKS = FUNNY

To say I love Mel Brooks is like saying I love chocolate. So many great movies, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, THE PRODUCERS, BLAZING SADDLES and so many more. His irrevant humor enriched so many lives. It is a Good Thing to Laugh. And so many times laughter is the best medicine. There aren't enough words to say my adoration to this funny man who was married to one of my all time favorite actresses Anne Bancroft. "Spring Time For Hitler and Germany" is one of the funniest bits of all time. Thank the Universe for Talented Genius Like MEL BROOKS. The World NEEDS to LAUGH! Especially in a world where Britney Spears & Ryan Seacrest received thieer star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame before Mel Brooks did!

Lockers

Students are very active in academics or sports activities in school. They have books and other school items that they bring to school so that they need lockers to put their things and not carry them around all the time. They need school lockers for their school equipments to be stored and gym lockers to store their sports equipments and P.E. uniforms.

There are different types of lockers and the most economical of these are wood lockers. It is best to canvas around to look for lockers for sale.

Let the students have fun while studying and engaging in sports activities in school by storing their valuables in a safe place like a locker.

Blogging.........

(Beautiful fountain in Savannah, GA. replica of one in Paris.)

Since coming back home, I've had the hardest time sitting down and trying to write or even just upload pretty photos from our trip to Florida and Georgia.

We saw so many beautiful place and buildings and sites. I think that makes it even harder. Because then you are back in the mundane every day life that you previously had left. HA!

Blah!!!
Add to that the fact that I've been so frustrated with my blog site that I haven't even wanted to come here. I really haven't wanted to deal with it all.

The format has changed on it's own somewhat and I can't seem to pull it back to the way it was.
Maybe it's "time for a new beginning."
I'm checking into new sites and formats and I am NOT good at this type of thing at all.

But frankly I am becoming a bit "bored" with this and I need some new inspiration to keep me going.

I'm going to "try" this new template for now...sigh.

Sometimes we must just "wait" for a new door to open...and I am so not good at waiting.

Good thing that I've semi learned, that "no matter what comes our way..
(even silly little "blog glitches")...we must always endure."

I'm no master at this...yet I have seen in all truth fullness, I might add....
That...."Good" things really DO come to those that "persevere."

A Crafty Writing Session

I’m really excited about the crafty books we are going to sell this year at Carnival.
This spring we embarked on a bookmaking journey, and I thought it would appropriate for my Crafty Girls to write, make, and sell their own books at the “Made By Me” booth. The idea is for each girl to write about a craft, make it, photograph it, and put together a book. And who in her right mind would help with the editing, designing, printing, and binding of this crafty book?

Me.

I can’t help it. The challenge of getting these girls to focus on such a crazy project just gets my juices flowing, I suppose. Or I like to suffer. Whatever the reason, I’m in this thing knee deep.

The smarted thing I did this spring was to split the group in two. Last Friday was the first group, which included My Girl, Irish Stepper, Dancing Girl, Den Mother, No Socks, and Bright Eyes. We talked about some of the ideas the girls had about their crafts and how to write instructional text.

I had an assortment of craft books and magazines piled in the middle of my living room floor.  The girls sift through the books and magazines, and then I handed out notepads and pencils so they could jot down their ideas. I made the mistake of including own book in the mix. Okay, it was more like books, plural, as in multiple copies of the one thick craft book I’ve written. Narcissistic? You bet. And as it turned out, 3 of the girls chose crafts from my book. And then started to plagiarize me. Which I guess is flattering, but my head began to hurt when I realized that I was correcting my own bad writing instead of a third grader’s.

Bright Eyes came prepared on Friday, with samples of her craft. We talked about writing down an introduction, and she took 30 minutes to come up with the following run-on sentence:

“Plain old doors can always use a little more pizzazz and this is the perfect craft to give your door more pizzazz because it’s got pizzazz.”

I don’t have the heart to change one word of it. If you could only see how hard she worked to find the right words--or, in this instance, just one word. Writing advertisement copy ain’t easy, especially when you’re only 9.

I can’t wait to see what the second group comes up with this Friday. Stay tuned.

Countown

I have two countdowns going on in my head right now... the 9 more working days (minus today) and the 24 days (including today) before my due date comes and goes...

...cause we all know I am not blessed and this baby is going to incubate for as long as my Dr will let him of course.

I am huge. I am miserable. I am tired 100.5% of the time. I am hungry all the time. Pregnancy doesn't agree with me. But don't mistake all this grumbling as anything but just that! My excitement for this little boy is immeasurable!!!!

We finished the babies room this weekend and I swear I got all misty-eyed. Taking out clothes and folding them up and pulling them up to your nose to sniff in the already-there baby smell (how does that happen?!?! They've never been worn! How can baby clothes already have that must-have-bottled baby smell us nesting mothers can't live without?!?) and placing them in an organized order in the dresser, all by size. Folding each and every softy blanket right after you've rubbed your face with it, exclaiming there isn't, couldn't be, another blanket softer than that one until you fold the next. And stacking up diapers, by size, in preparation for a small little bundle whom no one knows if he'll fit into a newborn or size 1 diaper so you over-buy both sizes.

NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING is sweeter than all that.

I am not going to lie... E and I sat in that babies room on the futon nursing couch (I will admit, I probably wont nurse even once on that thing... frickin thing is uncomfortable) for almost an hour just talking, discussing all the little things we had done, still wanted to do, and couldn't wait to happen. We turned on the soft little lamp that we decided would be way better lighting than the overhead and just hung out there in the pale light...some of the time not even talking at all.

It's strange how life changes isn't it?

I love.

Local Insurance

I have often wondered what will happen in the future and how best I can provide security for my loved ones. As I see the world economy barely lifting off the ground after a worldwide economic depression a few years ago, I can't help but be apprehensive about the future of most businesses as businessmen ponder the unstable state of economy. One of the best solutions to allay our fears and have a security both for our businesses and our family is to secure a comprehensive and credible business insurance policy. We have to review the circumstances that led to the downfall of many businesses and the cases of bankruptcies filed. We can see that in almost all cases of business downfall and corporate or individual bankruptcies, the parties concerned failed to provide for their future by securing a much needed and adequate insurance coverage.

Insurance coverages need not be national in scope. It can also be localized and thus provide a better focal point for insurance coverage. If your business is located in the State of California for example, you can seek a well accepted and highly respected insurance firm for business insurance in California. This will give you a sense of direction and peace of mind while you do your business in bustling California where you can get all the information and insurance assistance from the California Department of Insurance. Then you can really sit back and relax and see your investment unfold because you have comprehensive and foolproof security.

My Birthday Steak

For my birthday I want steak.

This is a sirloin steak that I actually slow-roasted in my oven. I know that many people swear by pan searing, but here’s the thing: I am not sure what cut of sirloin it is. Bottom round? Top? Center? Because it’s part of my cow share, the meat tends to be quite lean. So even if it’s part of the sirloin section that is usually fatty, my grass fed Holstein does not have much fat to it. And I am not sure if using a mallet to soften up the tissue is really going to do the trick.

Slow roasting works best on the so-called cheaper cuts, like a pot roast or London broil. Basically, you turn your oven on to 200 degrees and let your piece of meat cook for about 3 or 4 hours. For my uncertain cut of sirloin—which was a whopping 5 pounds bone in—I used a garlic thyme rub and slow roasted this beast for 4 hours and the outcome was pure heaven.

Garlic thyme rub
1 tablespoon sea salt
1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon dried oregano
10 cloves of garlic, mashed with a garlic press
1 tablespoon fresh thyme

Instructions
Add rub to one side of steak and place in plastic bag. Put in fridge overnight.
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Take out steak and bring to room temperature. Place on roasting pan and put in oven for 4 hours.  And that’s pretty much it. Take out of the oven, let it rest for 5 to 10 minutes, then slice and serve.
